IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: PHASE 3 RETURN TO FOOTBALL

26/07/2020

Dear parent/carer

We hope this finds everyone safe and well.

We have completed our first week back at football with some teams who feel it is the right time to go back based on their age group.

Some small camps started back again and operating within the latest Phase 3 Guidelines.

We must remind everyone though that this is not football back to normal yet.

This period should only be used as a re-introduction for the players with a fun, once a week, short training session. The main emphasis being fun and relaxed.

We hope you have had time to review and:

1. Read through the Return to Football club policy document Click Here to View RTF Club Doc

2. Familiarise yourself with the Club info-graphics (for player, parent & coach) and discuss these with your Child Click here to view Club Info-Graphics

3. Accept and Sign the Club 'Return to Football' policy through your respective My Club Hub Team dashboard.

(If you haven't already done this? Please follow the instructions below):

i. Open the App or Login to https://www.myclub-hub.com/

ii. Click Membership

iii. Scroll down to Club Policies and look for the 'Return to Training' Policy

Please get in touch for any help around this.

We would also like to take this opportunity to discuss the guidelines a bit further.

We have received a few queries this week via E-Mail, Text and had general queries about the number of sessions allowed for a Team.

Dundee West are governed by the SFA Phase 3 guidelines which have been agreed with the Scottish Government.  Dundee West aren't setting these guidelines.

Now we are in Phase 3, the guidelines state one training session per week with a short session, based on Fun.

The Scottish FA Phase 3 Guidelines can be found here: SFA Phase 3 Guidelines

As you know we are a responsible Club and in these times we will take guidance from the governing bodies who are in turn taking guidance from Government Health experts.

If we were to go off by ourselves and not stick to the guidelines we could potentially be endangering Public Health, but also more than likely lose our status as one of a handful SFA 'Platinum' Quality Mark Clubs in the East Region.

We had a regional meeting last week and it was clear that there is still a public health risk if too many people gather in one area.

If you think about our own situation at Charlotte Street on any given night, there could be a couple of hundred kids there.  Multiply that by parents, brothers and sisters who may need to be there too, and it could quickly escalate and can be seen why there is a concern.

We have just seen in the last few days countries like Spain where things can rapidly change and there are examples of this closer to home, like down South in regional areas too.

We shouldn’t be complacent, but at the same time, (although we can’t say for sure) we do feel the guidelines will change again in a few weeks (if things continue to do well) to relax things a bit further.  More than likely once the kids return to school which should be the most important thing for everyone.

We have all come so far, so for the sake of another few weeks, we just need to continue sticking to the guidelines given by the Health experts and the Governing Bodies.

The quicker we do that, the quicker we will get back to some sort of normality for football.

Stay safe everyone and thank you for your continued support.

Dundee West Executive Committee
