Today saw the lads travel to Claypotts to take on Broughty Panthers in our second league game as we looked to get our first points on the board.
The opening exchanges were scrappy but we soon settled into our rhythm, with Lewis Thomson causing problems for the Panthers back 4 with his hard running and ability to create openings.
On 20 minutes, we took the lead, when Lewis Hutton reacted quickest following a great free kick delivery from his twin brother Aiden, to fire home.
The second came just 3 minutes later when Lewis Hutton put the centre half under pressure, causing a mix up in the back four and Ryley Duncan was on hand to take advantage and fired home from 12 yards.
We were awarded a penalty on 27 minutes after Ryley was upended, giving us the opportunity to put the game to bed before half-time but unfortunately Cavan McLaren fired wide from the spot - the only blemish in another excellent performance from Cav today.
Between 30 and 35 minutes, we had a bit of a crazy, mad 5 minutes and incredibly lost 3 goals, all of which were preventable.
In fairness to the lads, they got back level within 3 minutes when Lewis Thomson fired in a cross to the back post and Luke Miller bulleted a tremendous header high past the Panthers keeper.
HT 3-3
A switch of formation at half-time made the lads more comfortable and we dominated the second half. Cavan and Keir Skinner were bossing the midfield, and the back 4 dealt comfortably with anything Panthers threw at them.
We went in front again after 48 minutes when Luke played a smart ball into Ryley, who shaped to aim for the far post but deceived the keeper by firing a sharp effort in at the near post from the edge of the box.
The Panthers keeper pulled off two cracking saves to prevent further goals until Lewis Hutton grabbed his second on 72 minutes, bursting clear and finishing expertly from 16 yards - a great finish!
The scoring was completed with a minute to go when Luke, out wide on the left touchline, saw the keeper out of position and volleyed home from an almost impossible angle with his left foot - quick thinking and an audacious piece of skill to squeeze the ball in to the net from such an angle.
FT 3-6
Another really good performance from the lads, a game in which we dominated overall. We played some really good football and were a constant threat to the Panthers rearguard.
3 points on the board and we build from here.
