Dundee West Royals 2005 0 Dundee Sporting 1

Dundee West Royals fell to a tough 1-0 defeat on Sunday at a cold Charlotte Street. The game started in positive fashion with Dundee West having plenty of the ball and created 1-2 half chances. They had a great chance to break the deadlock following a corner stright of the training ground but unfortunatly the ball just wouldnt fall a Dundee west player after a great save from the Sporting keeper, 5 minutes later another great chance went begging when Deklan Mckenzie went clean through and from 12 yds with only the keeper to beat shot right at the keeper. Dundee West continued to dominate and a few moments later a great chip from 20 yds out from Fergus Holmes drifted inches wide. with 10 minutes of the half left Sporting had a rare break into the box and forced a decent save from the Dundee West Keeper. Sporting then were awarded a free kick out on the right wing and ball was swung into the box and after a bit of pin ball in the box the ball dropped at the feet of a sporting player who prodded it into the net 0-1 HT

The second half of the game started as the 1st half with constant Dundee West pressure a great 30 yard effort from Ben Gibson brought a great save from keeper and several other shots were all dealt with by the keeper. with 15 miins to got Fergus Holmes is played through 1 on 1 and shot from 15 yards only for keeper yet again to pull off a great save to send ball out of a corner. Dundee West very pushing very hard form the equiliser and despite all the pressure the final ball just wouldnt drop for them. with time running out they pushed into a 3-3-4 formation to try and get something that there performance merited, in the last minute of time a corner was awarded a great ball into the box was met with a header from Finlay Muir aagonisingly the ball grazed the bar and with it the final whistle sounded.

a very tough result for the team considering the effort put in. a lot of positives in recent weeks from the team and continuing to play in the way will result in points being picked up sooner than later.
