2016 Royals Boys vs Forfar (Ronaldo) - Tough day at the office (Game 1)

22/09/2025

In our first game of the day the Ronaldo’s took on their counterparts from Forfar. Earlier in the season we were extremely unlucky to suffer a defeat against them, so we were hoping for better luck this time round.

After a few mixed performances in recent weeks, George spoke with the boys about the importance of hard work and working as a team and with the words still ringing in their ears, they started strong and pressed forward from the start. After some good play between Zac and Levi in midfield, Luke burst through on goal only for the ball to take a horrible bobble just at the wrong time, and the chance was gone.

Play was moving from end to end but with Joey, Mason and Zac battling in the wide areas, and Daniel and Sami working hard defensively they were keeping the Forfar attacks at bay. However just before half time Forfar took the lead. After working so hard for the first 15 minutes, the boys went to sleep, allowing their striker to fire in a shot from the edge of the box, which took a deflection past the stranded Jude in goal.

The 2nd half carried on in a similar fashion to the first, with little between the teams. Unfortunately, Forfar added 3 more goals, but credit to the boys as they kept going right to the end and were a touch unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

For all who were watching the game I think its fair to say the scoreline doesn’t reflect how the game went, but that’s football. Frustratingly, all the Forfar goals came from boys switching off and not tracking back with opponents. A lesson I’m sure they will learn as they mature and progress.

MoM – Levi Mcdonald

An excellent performance from Levi in centre midfield today. Worked tirelessly defensively and was technically very good when trying to create opportunities going forward. It’s safe to say our latest recruit has integrated well into the squad and is enjoying his football. Well done Levi!
