This was another meeting with Monifieth, having faced them quite recently, and we knew it would be a good test. The game came to life straight away, with Monifieth opening the scoring inside the first five minutes.

The Reds responded brilliantly. Ollie went close with a strike that looked certain to level things. At the back, Matthew was brilliant in goal, while Ollie and Jack were very strong defensively and quick to get the ball moving down the wings. Jaxon and Jacob stretched the play out wide with their brilliant runs, with Leo linking things neatly in midfield and Cal working tirelessly as the lone striker. The boys pressed hard, winning back possession and setting the tempo.

Changes brought fresh energy, with Connor slotting in seamlessly on the wing. He combined well with Ollie, driving forward on a great run that forced a save. Cal continued to put relentless pressure on the defence, and it eventually paid off — Leo saw a powerful shot saved but reacted quickest, showing great desire to follow up and equalise.

The Reds kept pushing, carving out chances through sheer hard work. Cal had an effort saved, while Connor and Jacob repeatedly broke through, threatening the Monifieth back line. Jacob’s persistence was rewarded when he danced past defenders to put the Reds ahead with a lovely finish.

Jaxon led the line with fantastic energy and was unlucky to see a brilliant strike denied, while Cal came close after a positional switch, rattling the post with a fine effort. Connor was immense defensively, tracking back tirelessly and winning key duels in crucial areas.

At the other end, Matthew stood tall with a series of excellent saves and calm, composed distribution that kept the Reds moving forward.

Every single player played excellent today. The work rate, energy, and willingness to fill any positions for the good of the team were outstanding.

Player of the Match – Connor Plane
Connor was a constant threat going forward, driving at the defence and making smart passes at the right times. Just as impressively, he tracked back relentlessly, winning the ball in valuable areas and setting the tone for the team’s effort. Well done Connor.
