Dundee West 2005 Match report Sunday 1st September

West travelled to Bridge of Earn on Sunday looking to build on Wednesday’s victory. West started on the front foot and went in front early on when Ryan slotted into the bottom corner. Right from kick-off earn were level following in mix up in defence left the striker with an open goal 1-1. West were shortly back in front when Andrew sent a delightful chip over the keeper and into the net 2-1. Declan then extended the lead when he reacted quickest to the keeper fumbling a David freekick to put west 3-1 up. Right away following more defensive indecision earn pulled another goal back 3-2. West continued to create problems for the opposition and was no surprise following a good passing move Ryann burst clear to finish at the second attempt 4-2, again we couldn’t hold onto the lead for any length of time and earn got another one back 4-3 right on HT Ryan scored again from close range to complete hattrick. HT 5-3 West.

Second half followed the pattern of the 1st with west the dominant side and was no surprise when Declan notched his second of the game 6-3 disaster struck and in defence and the earn player tapped home at the back post right from ko 6-4. Declan then went up the park to complete his hattrick from close range following a sustained period of pressure 7-4. Josh Abbott then got on the scoresheet with a fine left foot finish into the bottom corner of the net 8-4. Earn then pulled anyone back following a fine run from midfield the ball was slotted into the near post. 8-5. Ryan then scored the goal of the game picking up the ball in midfield and evading half the opposition before picking his spot from 18 yards 9-5. The referee then suffered a senior moment following a mouthful from Jonathan the ref sent Keith from the field in a case of mistaken identity. Ryan then completed the scoring from 6 yards out following good set up play. Earn to their credit didn’t give up and created several great chances as west switched off only for finishing and bad luck to let them down.

Overall a great attacking performance could have & should have scored a lot more. West will also need to be tighter in defence as a better team would have punished west more MOTM Ryan for his 5 goals.
