Match Report Dundee West Royals v St ANdrews 2005's

29/08/2018

Dundee West started positively from the off with the ball being sprayed around the part creating a few half chances but nothing clear cut. St Andrews then took the lead after 15 mins when a attempted cross from the right wing sailed over the keepers head and into the back of the net via the back post, the team continued to press forward and got a deserved equiliser 5 mins from HT when a quick passing move cut the st Andrews defence wide open and Haris Malik ran thro to slot the ball confidently in the far corner 1-1 Ht.

The second half started with st Andrews seeing more of the ball and 5 minutes in a swift counter attack for them was finished off nicely at the back post 1-2 same move 5 minutes later resulted in a carbon copy finish 1-3. Dundee West continued to press to get a way back into the game but with just 10 minutes to score St Andrews scored from a corner when the defender was given the freedom of the box from a corner to power home a 4th 1-4.

The team to there credit didnt let there heads drop and got one back with 8 minutes to go when Fergus Holmes powered a 18 yd shot into the bottom corner of the net. with 5 minutes left it was game on when he same player capitialised on hesitant defending to get is back to 3-4. with 1 minute left on the clock the Dundee west got a corner from the corner a goalmouth scramble followed and the ball broke to Sol Archibald who turned and hooked a great finish into the roof of the net 4-4. the game then was into its final few seconds when indecision in the Dundee West box resulted in the St Andrews striker being given half a chance he mis kicks the ball and somehow it trundles into the far corner off the post 4-5 whistle blown before Dundee West have a chance to get the ball out the centre circle following the restart.

A great game of football from both teams and almost a fantastic comeback from the royals. final score DUndee West 4 St Andrews 5
