Dundee West Royals headed through to Fife for their final away game of the 2018-19 season. previously playing St Andrews earlier in the season narrowly losing 5-4 to a last minute goal so the boys were aware that depsite the league positions they were very much a match for this side.
The game started with Dundee West contrling the game playing some lovely football and St Andrews were struggling to gain any real foothold in the game. 20 into the game west took a deserved lead when the ball broke to Jamie Stewart 25 yards out who took a touch to clear the ball out of his feet and unleashed a great curling shot over the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Dundee West continued to dominate & frustration was creeping into the St Andrews players game, this lead to a foul mouth outburst from a St Andrews player directed at the referee who flashed the yellow card reducing them to 10 players. Before they had a chance to re organise Dundee West scored a second following a well flighted free kick into the box by Ben Gibson, Jamie Stewart reacted quickest to prod the ball past a static keeper to give West a deserved 2-0 Ht Lead.
The second half started with St Andrews chnaging formation to a 3-3-3 in order to try to get back intop the game Dundee West kept them at bay for first 10 minutes but disaster stuck 10 mins into second half a long ball over the top caught out the west defence & the pacey striker broke clear to fire in a great shot off the post to reduce the arrears. West were hanging on in the game & the pacy striker was causing all sorted of issues for the west defence with 15 minutes to go a blatent push in the back of the striker resulted in a penalty given, despite a great save from Mylo in the goal the ball rebounded to the striker who rolls the rebound home. Dundee west then had a couple to half chances but the ball just wouldnt drop. With 10 minutes to go the ball broke out the St Anndrews box to David Low who fired the ball back into the box the ball was misjudged by the St Andrews keeper & dropped over his head & into the roof of the net 3-2 Dundee West. The last 10minutes resulted in west hanging on and the closest they came was when striker burst into the box but some desperate defending resulted in him standing on the ball and crashing to the floor looking for a penalty. the ref didnt give it & blew for full time shortly after it.

Summing up the boys got a well deserved 3 points and after dominating the 1st half had to go out and win the game again. This is the reward for there efforts over the last few weeks in which we have picked up 7 points from last 12 available. after a tough season its great to see the heads haven't dropped & that are still battling away for every point available.
